Mayumi Suzuki is back in Europe in March 2020, and we bring her to Italy for some great food, and yes, a WORKSHOP! 2 days full immersion, with the aim to help you take YOUR next step in the book making process. And, for those interested, a book binding day will be added.

We will help you think about where your project stands, and where it could or should go next. No miracles, but hands on, specific and individual indications, from a project idea to the printed book on the table, and beyond.

And you can learn how to bind your dummy, or how to make a hand made artist book. Ask us anything about, for example, Yoshikatsu Fujii’s Red String, Hajime Kimura’s Snowflakes Dog Man or Miki Hasegawa’s Internal Notebook production process. We’ve done them all, times 500!

We meet on:

Friday, March 27th, 2020 for the Book Binding workshop day: from 1 pm to 7 pm

We meet on:

Saturday and Sunday, June 27th – 28th, 2020 for the The Photo Book – Your Next Step workshop days: from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm-ish, with a short lunch break

We meet in:

Siena, Italy, Centro Socio Culturale La Tuberosa, via Vallepiatta 10

About us:

Mayumi Suzuki

Mayumi Suzuki was born in 1977 in Onagawa, Japan. She works as a visual storyteller to find and create personal narratives. She was born and raised in a family who ran a photo studio, founded by her grandfather in 1930 in the town of Onagawa.
March 11, 2011. On this day an incident which changed her life has occurred. Seventy percent of her hometown, Onagawa, was destroyed and ten percent of the population died and/or was missing by the tsunami, among them her parents. As an artist working with photography, she decided to start to tell the story. She captured them as individuals, the photographs being a proof of their lives.
In 2017, her photobook ‘‘The Restoration Will’ was shortlisted by Aperture – Paris Photo. In 2018, PHotoEspaña selected it as the Best Photobook International.

Eva-Maria Kunz

Eva-Maria Kunz is a book collector, a co-founder and the creative director at ceiba editions, a small independent publishing house, based in Italy.
