We are glad to announce that the winner of the PhotoBoox Award 2019 is Anna Maria Antoinette D’Addario with her dummy Farewell Angelina.

JURY STATEMENT
The jury was touched by the poetic way the artist worked on grief as a response to the tragic death of her sister. The awarded dummy acts as a catalyst in order to deal with loss and sadness.
Furthermore, the jury awarded Alessia Bressan‘s dummy 395 Notti and Giovanna Del Sarto's dummy A Polaroid for a Refugee with a Special Mention.

On the occasion of the 2019 edition of the Photolux Festival. International Biennial of Photography, Photolux with ceiba editions and Grafiche dell’Artiere promotes an international contest dedicated to photobooks, realized in cooperation with Miami Photo Fest and with the media partnership of EyesOpen! magazine.
The award is aimed to recognize the best unpublished editorial projects, giving them a broad visibility and a chance for publication.
The winning project will be published and distributed by ceiba editions and presented at Photolux Festival 2019 with an exhibition in one of the official venue of the event and a book launch during the main weekend (23-24 November 2019) where also the shortlisted will be presented to the public.
The project also wins an exhibition with a book launch at the Miami Photo Fest 2020 (dates to be decided).
Both the winner project and the shortlist will be published on EyesOpen! magazine’s online platform as well as on Photolux, Miami Photo Fest and ceiba editions’ websites.

Who can participate?
Submissions are free of charge and open to all photographers or collectives, professionals and not, from all countries.
Submissions
Quality, originality, and consistency of the project are the main criteria for the inclusion in the selection. Every participant can submit up to two book projects max. The projects must be unpublished. Projects already published by a publishing house or self-published will not be considered. If already realized as an artist book, the projects will be accepted only if the realized copies are 30 maximum.
Technical Details
The project must be submitted as a physical paper dummy, complete in every aspect (including text and graphic layout), but not necessarily realized with the final materials and binding.
Along with the dummy, the following documentation must be included:
- personal data of the photographer/collective: name, surname, address, phone number, e-mail address;
- curriculum vitae
- title and statement of the project, including the intentions and motivations (max 1000 characters);
- technical information of the dummy (size, page number, paper, binding);***
- authorization to Photolux Festival, ceiba editions, Grafiche dell’Artiere, Miami Photo Festival, and all media partners to use the pictures submitted, electronically, and in print in the context of this competition, to document and promote this and future Festivals and competitions.
*** The winner of the award will sign a regular publishing contract with ceiba editions. The edition will be published in collaboration with the artist, based on the submitted dummy. However, ceiba editions hold the prerogative to adapt size, shape, and form to improve the project for best production and marketing purposes. The author must hold the copyright of the whole content included in the dummy. The edition will be printed with the support of Grafiche dell’Artiere.
NOTE: the dummies will not be returned and become part of Photolux’ archive and library.

The projects must be submitted following the guidelines above, in a closed envelope, before and not later than March 31st, 2019 (date of postmark) to the following address:

The award committee will meet during the month of April 2019.
The winner will be announced within in May, 2019.
THE AWARD COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT NOT TO DECLARE A WINNER in case that there are no submissions deemed apt for a book publication.
